The Art of Block Printing
Block printing is one of the oldest textile traditions in the world, and it's at the heart of every dress we make.
It begins with a design. Then that design is translated into a series of custom hand-carved wood blocks. Each dress requires multiple blocks, fitted together across the fabric with careful, practiced precision. Natural dye is mixed, the block is pressed, and the pattern begins to emerge, one impression at a time.
The slight variations in color, the occasional ghost of a repeat, the places where the dye blooms just past the edge of the block. These aren't flaws. They're the fingerprints of the person who made it. Proof that a pair of hands, not a machine, brought this to life.
